Body Work

Cofe is adept in many styles of massage and guided stretching such as Deep Tissue, Tui-Na (Chinese medical massage), Thai Massage, Shiatsu, Reflexology, and Chi Nei Tsang and very often incorporates bodywork into his acupuncture treatments for muscular-skeletal pain.

The most unique and innovative style of all of these is called Inversion Stretch Therapy (as shown in the photo). Inversion Stretch is guided flow of inverted stretches composed of three main positions in which the force of gravity on the body is reversed, turning everything upside down and throwing a new light on old patterns of behavior. This technique is the only type of bodywork that guides the spine gently through all of the spine's natural movements — extension, traction, flexion, and rotation. The neck, shoulders, upper, middle, and lower back, and hips are all opened up, allowing the spaces between the vertebra and joints to expand and relax. Inversion Stretch Therapy reduces anxiety and stress, nourishes the brain with a rich supply of blood flow, flushes toxins from the lymphatic system, and improves blood circulation, metabolism, balance, coordination, and flexibility. It is suitable for anyone with a background of yoga, dance, martial arts, pilates, or any form of stretching who wishes to expand their horizons.

On the massage table, Cofe's touch is strong, yet sensitive and soothing, homing in on muscle knots and blockages in the tissues and fascia and dissolving them without causing his clients to experience a great deal of pain or discomfort. He often treats neck, back, and shoulder pain and tension with distal acupuncture in the extremities, combined with local massage in the affected area.

Utilizing advanced deep tissue techniques, Cofe slowly penetrates into the depths of the body's core muscles, releasing their accumulated emotional and physical tension while simultaneously guiding his clients through deep focused breathing and visualization techniques. By applying deep pressure from the origins of the muscles to their insertions, he is able to lengthen the muscles fibers and relax the tendons which in turn releases chronically contracted muscles allowing their cords and knots to melt away.
